New Media Art Fall 2013
Visual Arts 1
Is art?
a means of self expression?
a means to record experience?
a means to express the experience of seeing?
a sketch, as an illustration, or a drawing (representation)?
We can start with four categories:
1. an investigation, study and questioning of the visible, tangible world
2. a record of objects and events
3. a communication of ideas
4. transcriptions from memory, making visible the world of imagination.
First project Diptych:
Choosing one of the four categories, make a representation using a raster imaging program. The work should be at least 1024 X 768 to 5100 X 3300 pixels at 300 dpi.
Make a second image of the same subject, using the same criteria, with some variations if you wish, using on-line raster and vector imaging tools.
This project should be submitted both as a computer file and as a letter to tabloid sized print. (due September 23, 25)
